Do You Need Large Ebay Purchases Collected & Delivered?

With our experience at both buying goods through ebay as a family, and also collecting items of behalf of customers/clients, we thought we would put together a useful guide to buying large items on ebay.

• When searching initially find the correct category, for example if you are looking for a new sofa select Home and Garden and then the sub category of Living Room Furniture and then either sofas or suites, whichever you are looking for.  When you have got the list of sofas/suites up, then select from the 'Sort By' right hand drop down bar the option of 'Distance - Nearest First' - this will now show you the items in your local area - thus keeping costs lower with regards to collection mileage.
• Once you have found the item that you wish to bid on we would strongly recommend that you contact a local courier/removals company first to get a quote for the collection of the item before making a bid.  What maybe appears to be a bargain may not be once the collection costs are taken into account.
• Information required by the removals company for an accurate collection quote are:- postcodes of both locations, ideally the ebay item number, type of property the item is to be collected from/delivered to eg if a flat what floor is it on, the time of day the item can be collected (daytime/evening) plus if collection can only be done on a weekend or on a weekday.
• Will the item fit - check the measurements for both the access and place it is to go into.
• Where possible view the item before bidding to ensure the colour, condition, size etc is as advertised.
